Caring for your tulips

One of the special qualities of tulips is that the recipient receives something that continues to change and delight. Tulips continue to grow in the vase, easily by 10cm in a week, so they can be enjoyed in your home for a long time.

Our British-grown tulips are freshly pulled at a stage that will give you a long vase life. When we put them in wedding bouquets or seasonal bouquets they’re tucked quite low and look small. But fear not! They’re about to put on a show!

Getting The Most Out of Your Tulips

  • All flowers need to be kept in cool rooms away from heat (radiators or fires).

  • If you want to enjoy them in a warm room, take them somewhere cooler at night to help them recover.

  • Keep out of direct sunlight (I know they look nice on windowsills, but you’re speeding up their demise!) and away from fruit bowls.

  • Give them fresh water daily (or at least check, they’re very thirsty)

  • Tulips continue to grow so chop a few cm off their stems if they get too dangly. Their heads are huge and heavy!

  • Heat really opens up the flowers. We keep vases of the flowers we sell so that we can reassure ourselves of the quality and that the vase life good. I notice the difference if I don’t move them away from the stove when it’s lit.

We don’t treat our flowers with preservatives. Lots that you buy here in the UK (and across the world) are treated, which is damaging to the environment. But ours are so fresh, and cut at the perfect stage, so we don’t need to do anything to “improve” them.

Follow this guidance and you’ll have long-lasting tulips in your vases! We want you to enjoy our blooms!!
